Dr. Niklson is an MD PhD Neuropsychiatrist & Clinical Physiologist has broad experience, having spent 17 years teaching at University as Assistant Professor and 22+ years’ experience in headquarters of pharmaceutical companies. While at the university, she served as clinical investigator for pharmaceutical companies conducting clinical trials.
Since 2008 Dr. Niklson served as the Scientific Officer for Neuroscience and Ophthalmics at Novartis in Basel. She reviewed and approved protocols and amendments for general medicine, and reviewed clinical development plans as well as other study documents. She Chaired the Advisory Committee on Contraception, Co-chair of the Novartis Suicidality assessment Board and member of the Global Labeling Committee. She has been authoring global cross-divisional guideline for Novartis for appropriate selection of contraception methods in clinical trials and a guideline on selection of compounds for prospective suicidality assessment as well as its implementation. She supports teams in dealing with challenges associated with these topics. She led efforts for streamlining the process for amendment of clinical trial protocols as well as instructions in the template for the Investigator’s Brochure. In her previous roles she was Global Project Medical Director leading clinical development of compounds in the field of neurology and psychiatry. She also served as medical reviewer at Swissmedic, where she gained hands-on experience about how regulatory agencies receive and review a clinical dossier.
Dr. Niklson has a formal education as coach and serves as mentor in several mentoring programs and is since 2012 Director of Mentoring Program Chapter Europe of the Healthcare Businesswomen Association, a volunteer organization, mentoring many young women colleagues on their road to success.
Dr. Niklson lived in 4 different countries and worked with colleagues with different European, eastern and western cultural backgrounds.
